Hi,
See the guy standing against the sign post? Well, that’s me. Graham Barrett. I am an Expat, an Engineer, a sometimes  rock god bass player and a full time wannabescot. I am very pleased to meet you all.

Some facts about me.

I am quite tall, 6’4” to be exact.

I am English, born in the town of Hartlepool, formerly known as British West Hartlepool and yes, legend has it we once hung a monkey there. It’s own fault for pretending to be a Frenchman. Probably.

I am married and have 4 wonderful children.

I used to live in Dubai. Before that Abu Dhabi, Doha, Jakarta, Cairo, Sfax, Houston, Paris, Ludwigshafen and Barrow in Furness. I now live in Erbil in Iraq. It gets very hot in Iraq.

I once held my university record for fastest downing of a pint of draft beer, (just on 2 seconds). I had to practice hard to achieve this, which is probably why I got a 2:1 and not a First.

I have a dog called Snuggles and cats called Squeak and Cotton. My smallest daughter named them not me. Otherwise it would be Fang, Cat and the little white job.

I hate lettuce.

I write very long and often not terribly grammatically correct sentences that ramble on for a long, long time as I brain dump my thoughts and can’t quite figure the best place to stop.

That’s probably all you need to know about me at this stage. Other than I am desperate to get back to Scotland and our home in Moray. You’ll find out more as I share my personal thoughts, opinions and ramblings in the following pages.
